Proofreading

Proofreading is a close and careful reading of your work designed to catch surface errors like misspellings and mistakes in grammar and punctuation. Proofreading is NOT an edit. Our proofreading service is ideal for writers who have already completed all other editing revisions.

When we proofread your work, we bring fresh eyes to it. Oftentimes writers see what they think they wrote rather than what they actually wrote. We catch common errors like homonyms, which are words like “your” and “you’re” that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings, or using quotation marks where italics should be used. Because the eyes tend to slide over words, it’s twice as hard to proofread your own work as it is to proofread another’s work.

Use our affordable proofreading service to correct:

  • Grammar;
  • Spelling;
  • Capitalization;
  • Punctuation, and;
  • Typographical errors.

Although proofreading catches these types of errors, if there are several of them per page, your manuscript may require an edit instead of a proofread. If you have any doubts, send your manuscript for a free quote.

Rates are 1.2 cents per word. To calculate your total, multiply your total word count by [rate for the service]. Round off to the nearest whole dollar, and, on the next screen, enter this number as the quantity. Then click on the “Update Totals” icon. A $45 minimum per manuscript applies.
